With the current circumstances in our world, we wanted to emphasize how we plan to show up for our community and share our mission statement!
WHAT IS THE HOUSE OF DECAY?
Established in Rochester in the summer of 2023, the House of Decay and their army of corpses haunt the Greater Rochester Community. The tenants of the House of Decay are as follows:
DIY, Dissent, and Decay.
DIY: We enjoy the creative potential inherent in Doing it Yourself. This ethos applies not only to our performances and the management of our events, but also the commitment to fostering connections with the community.
DISSENT: The House of Decay believes that the people should hold space for and join us in celebrating our community of gender non-conforming, alternative, and queer artists . We revere and embody the counterargument to heteronormative institutions.
DECAY: Death is a natural cycle of the human experience. We encourage the decomposition of structures that no longer serve the community, such as heternormativity and gender-conformity.
With these pillars we promise to hold space for the members of our community and those who find us, we will fight to protect our space, and we remain strong in the face of adversity.
